The 2008 Season is in the Books!!!
Posted On: October 30, 2008, 12:43 am

Just wrapped up our 3rd season up here in beautiful Saskatchewan, and I would like to give a big thank you to all of our clients, landowners, and friends.  It wouldn't be possible without you guys.

I apologize to all of you who are asking about the rest of the pictures on the 2008 photo gallery.  We had a camera problem or two, but they should be up in the next few days.

The hunting was awesome this season!  Lots and lots of dark geese and ducks the entire season.  The snow geese never really made an appearance, although we did have a couple shoots where we put a little hurtin' on them.  The second half of September was unbelievably warm, with afternoon highs pushing 80 degrees.  Combine that with a south wind and you officially have a stalled migration.  We were shooting at the same birds for nearly 3 weeks, but we not only managed to stay on them, we hammered them!  October finally brought a wave of fresh birds, and the cooler weather sure did feel nice.  Lots of ducks pushed down for the last couple weeks of October, so lots of full straps of quackers.

Saw a couple neat things this year.  Had a falcon swoop down and hit the Mojo duck on an afternoon hunt.  Kind of rung his bell a little bit....he dusted himself off and was OK.  Also had a bald eagle grab one of our full body goose decoys and carry it about 6 feet before he realized it was not edible.  That oughta say something about the realism of the Greenhead Gear FFD full bodies we use!

Once again, thanks to everyone for your part in making this season such a success.  We easily surpassed the previous two season's kill total, and had a helluva lot of fun in the process!  See everyone next year!
